I'm moving to Indianapolis Indiana on 8/25 so that's why there are no new Meetups scheduled...
I'm so sorry to leave the group hanging but I hope someone will step up and take over.
I'll keep being the Organizer for about 6 months or until someone else takes over.
In the meantime I'll send out an email or 2 keeping you all integrally updated.
The links should all work, go ahead and make use of the Message Boards if you want to connect or you can send an email to the entire group. Go to http://kenwilber.meet... to send an email or http://kenwilber.meet... to post a message.
Read any of these books by Ken Wilber? Cool! But no worries if you haven't!
The Spectrum of Consciousness, No Boundary, The Atman Project, Up from Eden, The Holographic Paradigm, Eye to Eye, A Sociable God, Quantum Questions, Transformations of Consciousness, Spiritual Choices, Grace and Grit, 'Sex, Ecology, Spirituality', A Brief History of Everything, The Eye of Spirit, The Essential Ken Wilber, The Marriage of Sense and Soul, One Taste, Integral Psychology, A Theory of Everything, Boomeritis, The Simple Feeling of Being or Integral Spirituality.
Author of 22 books and counting Ken Wilber is a leading figure in an emerging philosophy and psychology called Integral.
The Integral map or model approaches truth in a different way than usual.
What if all philosophies, religions, scientific methods, spiritual movements and psychological viewpoints were true, but just not completely true? What if they all had a piece of the truth, just not the whole truth? What if they would express their own unique truth within their own domains and not try to impose it on other domains? If they are all important and can contribute truth then they should have a place at the 'Integral table' right? The problem is keeping them from kicking each other under the table and trying to knock each other off their chairs! :~)
How would they fit together? How would all these truths be arranged so that the overall map would make any kind of sense? What would this map look like? How would one use such a map? What would it be good for? We'll consider these questions and come up with others at the meetings.
We talk about the Wilber books we have read, listen to interviews between Ken and others in various fields and watch video with Wilber and associates about Integral.
A typical meeting is new member intro to the group, watching some video and then talking about whatever we resonate with. In the past we have done meditation and reviewed material from the 'Integral Life Practice' kit.
If you are new to Integral I hope it is a good place to learn about this important new approach to understanding our world. If you have been reading Ken for awhile or have been connected to websites like 'Integral Naked' or 'Integral Spiritual Center' we welcome you to connect with the local San Diego Integral community.
If you discovered us through the Chalice Unitarian Universalist Church where we are now holding our meetings I want to especially welcome you. I think you will find that Integral resonates with 'The Seven Principles of Unitarian Universalism'.
The 'Chalice Covenant' from the Chalice website:
"Mindful of our diversity and our need for greater understanding, we promise to open our hearts and minds to foster a safe, inviting and loving community. We will treat one another genuinely and respectfully as together we share life's journey toward wholeness."
This is a wonderful expression of the Unitarian Universalist ethos and shows that our new home is in good hands.
Best regards, Mark
P.S. A group that is closely associated with this group is the San Diego Integral Meditation Group. That group is for people who want to start learning about practicing Integral. Now Integral Meditation is only one part of a Integral Life Practice but hey it's a start! Beginner and advanced meditators welcome!
